Inclusive Project Team Creates Unique Expectations
Every type of potential end user was involved in the design of this multispecialty clinic—nurses, physicians, administration, IT, sanitation staff, and more. This creates conditions of satisfaction within the project tailored to the unique needs of medical staff.
Rapid Cardboard Simulation Creates Flexible Design
Both floors of the facility were built out as cardboard prototypes, and mock-ups of the equipment were placed inside. End users were then challenged to repeat their daily routines within the built out space. Inefficiencies, waste, and other potential project pitfalls were discovered during this phase.
Rapid Prototype Leads to Rapid Delivery
The prototyping process consolidated the schematic design of the facility to a 12 day process. Ultimately, the Outpatient Center was opened 48 days earlier than a traditional architectural process would have allowed. The finished design reduces the provider:exam room ratio from 1:3 to 1:2, which increased the overall capacity of the facility by 65%.
